Visiting the LBC in person

Following the recent easing of restrictions, we are very pleased to announce that we will soon start opening our doors for some events – to limited numbers of people. This will start with three Thursday evening classes in July, each one bookable from the Monday of that week. We are re-introducing in-person activities gradually, both to ensure we do this responsibly, and to give ourselves time to make any necessary adjustments.

We have had to make changes to how we use the centre to keep our events safe, of course – do read on or watch the video below if you’d like to know more. And bear in mind that these classes will still be live-streamed, so if you don’t manage to book in time, you can still tune in to the class.

We hope you understand that drop-in events, and hence unpredictable numbers, make it difficult to ensure social distancing. We will need to operate a booking system for the time being. So do book below for the next available class (these will be released one at a time), and we really look forward to seeing you. Keep an eye on our regular mailouts for more events becoming available in this way.

Upcoming In-person Classes

What is the LBC doing to minimise the risk of Covid infection?

We are following the Government’s Covid-19 Secure Guidelines. Here are the changes we’re asking you to bear in mind if you come:

Feeling unwell Please do not visit the LBC if you are feeling unwell or experiencing Covid-19 symptoms. We hope you understand this measure is to keep all of us safe and to prevent the transmission of the virus. If you have booked and are subsequently unable to attend, please email bookings@lbc.org.uk so that someone else can use your place.

Limited numbers and booking – To ensure that everyone can keep 2 metres apart, we are running a booking system for our classes. The classes will still be live-streamed to YouTube, so if you are unable to book, you can still join us online.

Physical distancing – We ask all participants to maintain a 2-metre distance from other people.

Hand washing and hand sanitiser – We ask all participants to wash their hands upon entering or leaving the building. There are also hand sanitiser stations around the building.

One-way system – There will be a one-way system in operation and access to the main areas of the building will be through the small shrine room. The class team will be on hand to guide you.

Cleaning – Our team and volunteers are regularly cleaning the centre to keep it clean and safe for all of us. All frequently touched areas will be cleaned before and after each class; mats and cushions are there for your use, but only team members will handle them before and after the class.

Refreshments We won’t be serving tea or biscuits at this time, so if you would like these, please do bring your own. Some of our first in-person classes will be short enough that there won’t be a tea break.

Face masks – You are welcome to wear a face covering inside the LBC if you wish to do so.

Travelling to and from the LBC We are encouraging all participants and team to walk or cycle to the LBC where possible. If using public transport to visit the LBC, please be aware that current regulation states that face coverings must be worn when using public transport in England, including Transport for London services.

A summary of the risks and mitigating actions we’re taking around Covid-19 is available here.

We intend to resume more classes and reopen the LBC for longer periods at a safe and appropriate time.

Details will be made available on our website and through our mailing list. If you would like to be kept up to date, please sign up at the bottom of this page.
